Blue Diamond play a mix and wide range of predominantly 70’s based rock music – with powerful three part harmonies - acoustic & electric interpretations of rock classics, inlcuding Steely Dan, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Wishbone Ash, Neil Young, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd.
Pat, Bob and Steve share the vocal and harmony duties. Pat stays on guitar, Bob switches between Guitar, Sax and Harmonica, Steve plays Bass and guitar. Ian sits quitely at the back keeping the complicated rhythms going.
Based in the Wear valley Blue Diamond is one of the biggest draws in Wearside and only occasionally venturing north of the Tyne. With roots firmly in the world of rock and with half of the band, appearing along Baz Warne (The Stranglers), in the reformed Sunderland based Sun Devils, it goes to show the quality of their musicianship.
A live show by Blue Diamond has a regularly changing beat, from laid back country vibes through to hard hitting solid rock riffs. By cleverly mixing electric and acoustic instruments they create original takes on well known tunes from the world of rock music.
This is a great band to listen to, and the music appeals to all ages and musical tastes. The die hard music fans of the Maggie Bank have always expressed a preference for Blue Diamond.
